RMHC South Africa Launches Podcast to Amplify Stories of Hope and Impact

Ronald McDonald House Charities South Africa has officially launched the RMHC SA Thought Leadership Podcast. A powerful new platform designed to share stories of hope, expert insights, and real-life experiences from the families and communities we serve. The podcast brings listeners closer to our mission, shedding light on the emotional, social, and health-related journeys that shape life at RMHC SA.

Episode 1: Driving Active Stewardship & Servant Leadership – The “Why” Behind the RMHC South Africa Chapter

The debut episode, hosted by RMHC SA CEO, Matshepo Msibi, centres on the theme of Active Stewardship. Matshepo engages in an inspiring conversation with Reginald Sphiwe Skhosana, affectionately known as Ntate Reggie, McDonald’s South Africa’s first Owner Operator and the founder of RMHC SA.
Listeners are taken on a reflective journey through his early life, the values that shaped his leadership, his pioneering role in South Africa’s first McDonald’s restaurant, and the vision that led to establishing RMHC SA. Ntate Reggie shares the passion and purpose behind bringing the charity to life, offering a profound look at how one person’s heart and foresight helped build the foundation of the organisation we know today.

Episode 2: Prioritizing Mental Health for Mothers and Guardians at RMHC South Africa

The second episode, hosted by RMHC SA Business Development Manager, Nomusa B. Mdangayi, focuses on the vital topic of Mental Awareness. The discussion is split into two meaningful segments:

Segment 1: Expert Insights with Dr. Nokukhanya Khanyile-Lenake
Nomusa sits down with Dr. Khanyile-Lenake, a specialised paediatrician and mental wellness advocate, for a deep conversation about holistic mental wellness, especially for mothers and families staying at Ronald McDonald House while their children receive medical care. Drawing on her experience at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, Dr. Khanyile-Lenake highlights the emotional challenges families face and the essential role RMHC SA plays in providing stability, support, and mental wellbeing far from home.

Segment 2: A Mother’s Journey Through Uncertainty and Hope
In the second segment, Nomusa speaks with Lerato Magazi, a past RMHC House beneficiary, joined by her daughter, Charity. Lerato shares her heartfelt story of navigating hospital stays, fear, and fatigue and how RMHC SA gave her a safe, caring space that lifted the burden of daily meals, transport, and emotional strain. Her testimony beautifully captures the compassion, connection, and strength found within the House.

A Platform with Purpose
The RMHC SA Podcast is more than a series of conversations, it is a space to honour the voices, experiences, and expertise that make our mission stronger. Through heartfelt stories and meaningful dialogue, the podcast deepens understanding, celebrates resilience, and brings families, volunteers, and supporters even closer to the heart of our work.
