Supporting sick kids and their families

Ronald McDonald House Charities South Africa has supported thousands of seriously ill children
and their families, carers, and guardians. Opened in 2012, our House provides more than just the necessities. We specialize in assisting families traveling 60+ km from home to receive specialist medical care for their sick children. We offer a warm and welcoming place to stay in a supportive and understanding environment.

Through our accommodation and support services, we strive to build a community that nurtures and empowers seriously ill children and their families.

The Ronald McDonald House is located in the Nelson Mandela Childrenโ€™s Hospital situated in Parktown, Johannesburg and our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are located in the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto. Our two programs are run by our hardworking team, as well as our dedicated group of volunteers, all aided by the generous support of our donors, sponsors, community, and corporate partners.

Thank you for your continued support of our families!

We at RMHC South Africa acknowledge that grief is a natural response to loss, and we aim to break the stigma surrounding this deeply personal experience.

RMHC South Africa strive to create a safe space for individuals to openly discuss their experiences with grief and loss. We encourage empathy, compassion, and support for those who are grieving, emphasizing that grief is a universal and often challenging part of the human experience.

The world can end AIDS, with communities leading the way. Organisations of communities living with, at risk of, or affected by HIV are the frontline of progress in the HIV response.

At RMHC South Africa, we believe children are happier and healthier when families can stay nearby while receiving medical care. The power of family closeness is a driving factor in the work of RMHC South Africa and this yearโ€™s fundraising goal equates to providing for the over 3000 South African families that we care for at our 27-bedroom House each year.
